Do you want to know about the Alpine ILX 207 review? This is the right guide for you. So just relax and keep on reading so that you don’t miss anything.
Alpine has been creating some of the best car audio equipment for nearly 45 years and my test drive with the ILX 207 proves that they’re doing it the same way as always. The ILX 207 is a double DIN head unit with Android Auto, Apple Car Play, and Bluetooth capabilities.
It also has one of those cool motorized screens (like what you would find on your garage door opener). To start there’s a microphone included which will give you hands-free calling over Bluetooth and also brings voice control to your car stereo system. You can ask for directions, songs, phone calls, and more. This is something that even I haven’t seen too often but it was cool to test out.
The Bluetooth is also easy to set up with pretty much any device that you would want to use including Android or Apple products. You can also connect two phones at once so people can switch off if they need a turn driving which is something I like about Alpine gear since sometimes only one of my friends has a compatible car audio head unit.
There’s even an SD card slot built-in for playing music files (WMA/mp3) which goes nicely with the built-in front USB where you can plug in an iPod or iPhone directly into your stereo system if you don’t have Bluetooth connectivity on your device. There’s also an Auxiliary cable for music players that do not support Bluetooth or USB connectivity.
It also has a built-in amplifier which will make your speakers sound great no matter how high or low you choose to turn up the volume. All of these features come at about an average price compared to other head units on the market today at around 400 dollars. If you’re willing to spend that much money on a car stereo, you will not be disappointed in the performance and features of this unit.
Downsides? I didn’t find any but if I had to point out something negative about the ILX-207 it would have to be that it’s probably too awesome. The motorized screen is awesome for showing off to your friends while driving around with the top down so they all want one too. It can also get annoying if someone wants to watch movies or play games while you’re trying to drive which is understandable because how awesome would it be to have Google Maps pop up when you need directions?
It’s just an awesome piece of technology that I wish was installed in more cars on the road today. Some brands do offer this as an option but it isn’t very common. I’m hoping that this review and others like it will help more car manufacturers see the value in offering Android Auto and Apple Car Play built into their stereo systems because we’re living in a new age where people want integration onto our devices.

What’s In The box– Alpine ILX 207 Review
- Remote Wireless Remote Controller
- Audio Level Expander For cleaner sound at low volume.
- Detachable Face Security The face of the head unit can be detached to deter theft.
- Dual USB Ports Charge two devices at once with dual USB ports.
- Headphone Jack 3.5mm headphone jack for private listening experience.
You get everything you need to install this stereo system in your vehicle including iPhone cable, USB cable, android cable, and mounts for the screen. There’s also a remote control unit that lets you change songs or volume without having to take your eyes off the road which is nice if you’re caught in traffic with nothing but hip-hop on your iPod.
I’m usually more of an EDM guy myself but my friend was really happy to be able to play all his country music tracks through my car speakers using Bluetooth connectivity so it’s nice when everyone can have what they want.
I would recommend getting an installation kit if you are planning on installing this unit yourself instead of taking it somewhere else especially since you get a free one when you order the head unit. Trust me, if you want to save money and do it yourself.
I was pretty excited when I got this product because it looked like something straight out of a science fiction movie. It’s cool as hell and as you read earlier, has all the features that integrate with your phone seamlessly. The first time we tried to set up after doing the initial software update, we were getting error messages and we weren’t sure if we needed some sort of adapter or what but these guys over at Audio Express/Quality Auto Sound (locations vary) saved us and got everything up and running on our way within minutes.
The Alpine ILX-207 has direct steering wheel control which is essential for quick changes to your music or calls on the go. The head unit also has RCA pre-outs so you can connect two amps if you’re planning on creating a more complex system with amplifiers and subwoofers.
If you are already running Alpine equipment, there are adapters available to integrate everything which makes installation pretty seamless. You can even output video through the head unit onto another monitor in your car if you have one installed. This is great news for those of us who may want to hook up our tablet so we can watch movies while driving but without having to deal with the glare.
The screen itself is 7″ in total and when it’s fully extended, you can’t help but feel like you’re in your mini-movie theater while driving. The display is bright and vivid enough to see even in direct sunlight. For those of us who are tech geeks, I’ll point out that it uses a Dual Core 32 bit Processor for fast load times without any glitches.
This is where your wire from your wired headphone goes in as well as any aux cord you use with a device if it’s built into the stereo itself. It’s also where you plug in your smartphone via USB or Aux input / iPhone / android cable depending on how new or old your smartphone is and what adapters you need for this model to work without Bluetooth connectivity. RCA Audio Output RCA audio output jacks – 2 sets.
These are for expanding your stereo system to allow more speakers or sub-woofers and other accessories that use the RCA jacks. Other components may require an adapter (sold separately).
This product will mix your tracks and transition through songs without interruption by simply activating the MIXTRAX button on your radio. High-Quality Audio Decoding Like many other cheap head units, the Alpine ILX-207 is fully compatible with WAV (Waveform Audio File Format ) and FLAC (Free Lossless Audio Codec). The sound quality of both formats is much better than mp3 files which can take up room on your phone’s storage if you don’t want to upgrade to a new phone.
I’m going to be straight up with you guys, the first time I hooked this product up it didn’t work for some reason and we had all these errors messages but our friends at Audio Express / Quality Auto Sound helped us out and got everything running smoothly so this isn’t a knock on the product, just a warning from someone who has been there before.
If anything happens to your system after something as simple as updating your software or whatever else you’re doing, call them up because they know what’s going on with these head units. My favorite thing about this unit is that it allows me to feel like I’m in the future. If nothing else, it looks cool as hell and works seamlessly with Apple CarPlay. I use this in my Audi A5 and it’s the perfect fit for me.
I would recommend getting an install kit since they are free, don’t forget to get it done professionally instead of trying to do it yourself because if anything goes wrong with your unit, you’ll probably have a hard time figuring out what the issue is.
That being said, when everything works properly, you can stream Bluetooth music or use WAV / FLAC files which are true lossless formats that sound great on any speaker system without taking up unnecessary space on your device. It also has an auxiliary input so you can jam out using wired headphones or just plug in your smartphone via USB cable if you don’t want to deal with Bluetooth connectivity.
Design and Appearance
The unit has a sleek look that is nice for anyone who likes modern technology or just wants something simple, recognizable, and easy to work with. It works great with CarPlay so if you have an iPhone it comes in handy. The screen lights up automatically when you start your car which makes it feel like magic but also runs on its power so if your battery dies halfway through whatever you’re doing, this will save your phone because it has a longer battery life than most phones.
The design looks similar to many other models if you don’t look closely. It’s a simple black color with silver accents which makes it feel modern and sharp. If you have an older car, it may not blend in very well but for contemporary cars, this will look good no matter what kind of dashboard it’s being installed into.
I’d say the main downside to the appearance of this product is that there are too many buttons overall including small ones on the front that can be frustrating if you don’t know what they do or how to use them. There are collapsible buttons on the front that are great if you’re trying to save space but can be difficult at first.
The sound quality is great whether you’re using Bluetooth streaming or WAV / FLAC files. I haven’t had any problems with skipping or dropping out while listening to music either so overall this product is amazing when it comes to its primary function, playing music. If you’re into high-quality sound with all the bells and whistles that come with it then this is a great product for you. It comes with its EQ settings whether you want the bass to be stronger or if you want your music to sound warmer, this product has it all.
I’m very impressed with the sound quality of this product, it’s truly amazing. I was a little hesitant at first because I wasn’t sure if it would live up to the hype but it definitely does. The sound is so clear and crisp and the bass is really strong too. I’m glad I made the decision to purchase this product, it was worth every penny.
This is one of the higher-end models that are out right now for people who are willing to invest in something that provides great value. It’s not too bulky and fits well with most car interiors unless you have a really old car.
Without anything installed, it doesn’t take up much room but still does everything that an average consumer wants from a head unit such as playing music and having built-in Bluetooth connectivity.
These kinds of features aren’t unique anymore so if you’re looking for something that can stream HD audio files and provide great EQ settings, the Alpine ILX-207 is an excellent choice.
As for the competition, there are a few other options available such as the Sony XAV-AX100 and the Kenwood DDX9902S. Both these models have a slightly higher price tag but offer similar features.
The Alpine ILX-207 is one of the best car stereos on the market right now and offers great value for money. If you’re looking for something that has all the latest features and doesn’t break the bank, this is the unit for you.
Usually when it comes to head units, the most popular models are around $150 just because they’re able to provide everything you need from a product such as this one. However with an upgraded version of this product, you can get it for around $200 which might seem like a lot but when it comes to products that don’t cut corners, this price is completely reasonable.
The biggest selling point for this product is the price because it is able to offer a lot of features that are seen in more expensive models. It has a sleek design, plenty of power, and is very easy to use. If you’re looking for a great head unit on a budget, this is the one you want.
Pros and Cons – Alpine ILX 207 Review
The unit does everything it’s supposed to do without any issues which include being able to adapt to multiple cars or situations. You can also use Siri voice controls through your iPhone which helps when you need to respond quickly without having to fumble around on your phone.
I’ve never had an issue using this product even though our first attempt was kind of difficult because of something we did wrong during the setup process but now that it’s working 100%, I can say that this is one of my favorite products by far. It works perfectly and has never given me any issues.
If you’re looking for a product that’s easy to use, provides everything you could want from a head unit, and is generally very capable of providing a pleasant experience, this is probably one of the best choices out there right now.
All in all, this product is fantastic if you’re looking for something that’s easy to use and provides a pleasant experience. Although it’s more expensive than most other models on the market right now, the price is worth it. This product has so many features including being upgradeable through USB connections which means you don’t have to keep buying the same product over and over again.
If you’re looking for something that provides value, this is probably one of the best choices out there right now. It might be easy to find something cheaper but not everyone wants to settle for cheaper products because they don’t want to risk compromising quality. The Alpine ILX-207 is designed for people that understand that price and quality often go hand in hand.
The sound quality is superb, and with its built-in Bluetooth capabilities, you can easily stream music or make calls without ever having to take your hands off the wheel. Installation was a breeze, and I had it up and running in no time. If you’re looking for an upgrade to your current setup, the Alpine ILX 207 is definitely worth considering.
