It also has one of those cool motorized screens (like what you would find on your garage door opener). To start there’s a microphone included which will give you hands-free calling over Bluetooth and also brings voice control to your car stereo system. You can ask for directions, songs, phone calls, and more. This is something that even I haven’t seen too often but it was cool to test out.
Bluetooth is also easy to set up with pretty much any device that you would want to use including Android or Apple products. You can also connect two phones at once so people can switch off if they need a turn driving which is something I like about Alpine gear since sometimes only one of my friends has a compatible car audio head unit.
There’s even an SD card slot built-in for playing music files (WMA/mp3) which goes nicely with the built-in front USB where you can plug in an iPod or iPhone directly into your stereo system if you don’t have Bluetooth connectivity on your device. There’s also an Auxiliary cable for music players that do not support Bluetooth or USB connectivity.
It also has a built-in amplifier which will make your speakers sound great no matter how high or low you choose to turn up the volume. All of these features come at about an average price compared to other head units on the market today at around 400 dollars. If you’re willing to spend that much money on a car stereo, you will not be disappointed in the performance and features of this unit.
Downsides? I didn’t find any but if I had to point out something negative about the ILX-207 it would have to be that it’s probably too awesome. The motorized screen is awesome for showing off to your friends while driving around with the top down so they all want one too.
It can also get annoying if someone wants to watch movies or play games while you’re trying to drive which is understandable because how awesome would it be to have Google Maps pop up when you need directions?
It’s just an awesome piece of technology that I wish was installed in more cars on the road today. Some brands do offer this as an option but it isn’t very common.
I’m hoping that this review and others like it will help more car manufacturers see the value in offering Android Auto and Apple Car Play built into their stereo systems because we’re living in a new age where people want integration onto our devices.

You get everything you need to install this stereo system in your vehicle including iPhone cable, USB cable, android cable, and mounts for the screen. There’s also a remote control unit that lets you change songs or volume without having to take your eyes off the road which is nice if you’re caught in traffic with nothing but hip-hop on your iPod.

If you are already running Alpine equipment, there are adapters available to integrate everything which makes installation pretty seamless. You can even output video through the head unit onto another monitor in your car if you have one installed. This is great news for those of us who may want to hook up our tablet so we can watch movies while driving but without having to deal with the glare.
The screen itself is 7″ in total and when it’s fully extended, you can’t help but feel like you’re in your mini-movie theater while driving. The display is bright and vivid enough to see even in direct sunlight. For those of us who are tech geeks, I’ll point out that it uses a Dual Core 32 bit Processor for fast load times without any glitches.
This is where your wire from your wired headphone goes in as well as any aux cord you use with a device if it’s built into the stereo itself. It’s also where you plug in your smartphone via USB or Aux input / iPhone / android cable depending on how new or old your smartphone is and what adapters you need for this model to work without Bluetooth connectivity. I’m going to be straight up with you guys, the first time I hooked this product up it didn’t work for some reason and we had all these errors messages but our friends at Audio Express / Quality Auto Sound helped us out and got everything running smoothly so this isn’t a knock on the product, just a warning from someone who has been there before.
If anything happens to your system after something as simple as updating your software or whatever else you’re doing, call them up because they know what’s going on with these head units. My favorite thing about this unit is that it allows me to feel like I’m in the future. If nothing else, it looks cool as hell and works seamlessly with Apple CarPlay. I use this in my Audi A5 and it’s the perfect fit for me.
I would recommend getting an install kit since they are free, don’t forget to get it done professionally instead of trying to do it yourself because if anything goes wrong with your unit, you’ll probably have a hard time figuring out what the issue is.
That being said, when everything works properly, you can stream Bluetooth music or use WAV / FLAC files which are true lossless formats that sound great on any speaker system without taking up unnecessary space on your device.

Performance
The unit does everything it’s supposed to do without any issues which include being able to adapt to multiple cars or situations. You can also use Siri voice controls through your iPhone which helps when you need to respond quickly without having to fumble around on your phone.
I’ve never had an issue using this product even though our first attempt was kind of difficult because of something we did wrong during the setup process but now that it’s working 100%, I can say that this is one of my favorite products by far. It works perfectly and has never given me any issues.
